National Author Day - November 1

National Author's Day comes on November 1 of every year. It is a day to honor all the authors and encourage every writer in life to keep working on their magnum opus. Writing a novel or a small story is hard.

"The only way you can write is by the light of the bridges burning behind you." -

Richard Peck

Today I give you the list of my favorite authors whose lights burn brightly for me. They are listed in no particular order.

  • Margaret Wise Brown

  • L M Montgomery

  • Louise May Alcott

  • Laura Ingalls Wilder

  • John Dennis Fitzgerald

  • Charlotte Bronte

  • Charles Schultz

  • Bill Waterson

  • Gary Larson

  • Brain Crane

  • Berkeley Breathed

  • Theodore Geisel

  • Richard Peck

  • Laura Hillenbrand

  • David McCullough

  • Richard Paul Evans

  • Ellie Alexander

  • Robert McCloskey

  • Margot Lee Shetterly

  • Barbara Cooney

  • Robin McKinley

Anything and everything I write and publish is because of them. Words alone cannot convey my gratitude.

Who are the lights you read or write behind?

Carrie
